Destination : Maldives

Yes it was our honeymoon. It was a 4 nights and 5 days trip to Maldives. Like everyone even I was excited about the trip. More over it was my first travel on the flight which made me all the more excited. We started off from home at around 5:45 by a cab and took a Volvo to the airport from J.P Nagar. We reached the airport and waited there for our turn to go inside the airport. We did not prefer to go inside immediately thinking that once we enter inside we cannot come out of it. The flight was at 10:30. We waited till it was time for us to clear our formalities. Not sure about the rules and regulations and the formalities I stayed behind Richy who guided me all the way regarding what to do and what not to do. I was a little scared while the security check was on. Once that was done I was more and more excited about the travel. We spent time in the airport by window shopping in the duty free shops and had some breakfast in one of the cafes there. Finally it was time for the arrival of the flight. And yes I was walking to the aeroplane and I could not hold my excitement. We got into the flight and settled on our seat. I was sitting and admiring everything in the flight and Richy was explaining things to me. Finally the air hostess came over to ask for coffee and snacks. Since it was Indian Airlines and like most of us know the air hostess were old people :) And then the flight took off. I just cannot express my excitement when the flight took off. Did I feel a little giddy when it took off ? I think yes I felt it :) I noticed everything that I saw.The buildings and everything below were getting smaller. Then finally we went more higher where we could not see anything below at all.It was nice to see ourselves go through the clouds.It was like we were traveling in heaven.The same feeling as they show in the TV about heaven and all that. I really felt that I was traveling in heaven full of white clouds and blue sky.It was a one and half hour journey. Though we were advised not to operate cameras and mobiles, I could not stop myself from taking shots of the sky which I had never seen like this before. Yes, I had to request Richy for this. Then finally our lunch arrived. We ate the lunch and waited to reach our destination. The view just before landing was just ultimate. The lagoons looked so beautiful actually. They were so wonderful. The flight landed and we got off the flight.
There was a small bus which picked us from where the flight had landed to the entrance of the airport. The security check there was very simple and did not have to go through too much actually. After clearing the formalities and all that we cam to the lobby where we had to wait for the speed boat to pick us from the airport to the resort. We inquired with one of the people there to find out that we will have to wait for the people from the resort and they will come with a placard. So we waited there watching different kinds of people in the airport walking around. There were many people from all over the world. Till our speed boat arrived I was under the impression that the resort we have booked is a big land and all the people who are sitting there in the airport were going to the same resort. Then finally one guy came over calling out 'Paradise Island Resort and Spa'. We understood that we have to follow him to reach our resort. There was a guy who helped us to get into the speed boat and put our luggage inside. We both chose to sit in one corner so that we can have a better view of the place. The water was totally sky blue and very beautiful. It looked completely different from what I saw from the plane. From the plane I felt like it was a blue colored thing placed on the sand which had beautiful colors in between something like peacock colors. We traveled in the speed boat and he was quite fast. We reached the resort. Everything was new to us. We reached the reception and were asked to wait for sometime. We were given the welcome drink a warm cloth to freshen up ourselves. It really felt good wiping our face with that. Then finally one waiter came over and helped us to the room. The room as usual was very well maintained. We were actually supposed to get a champagne and fruit basket which we did not find when we reached the room. And we did not bother to check about it also. When we opened the small fridge which was inside the room, we found so many drinks and soft drinks and chocolates. We were not sure if we will be charged for using these or if this was a part of the room booking. Then my husband told me that according to 5 star standards these will be a part of the room booking. So I ate the chocolates and had my first drink also :) I can say I tasted it. The room had a backdoor and opening that door led us to the beach. It was just very beautiful. Now I could not wait to go to the beach and play around.
We freshened up and walked by the beach in the evening.It was a real good experience. We walked around the resort to find out places where we have to go for dinner and other entertainment things that were available in the resort. During the evenings the water in the beach would come up to some level and during the day time the water level would go down. We walked around the beach and found so many fishes. The water was so crystal clear that we could see the sand so clearly. There were so many seashells that I collected. During the evening we could sit in the backyard and watch the sea or read a book or do anything that we want. And we preferred doing the same as well. We just lay by the beach side and watched the sea together. There were so many people playing the beach and it was nice to watch them too. Since we did not know swimming we could not do anything other than watch people swim. We walked around taking snaps of each other and the place.
The free champagne and the fruit basket came only on the second day. We tried the champagne and I can say I liked the taste and ate most of the fruits they got us.
Our day would start with a very heavy breakfast and after that we would have a small nap and then start off with walking and watching over the place. We could not go snorkeling because we did not know swimming. We preferred staying back at the resort.Everyday when we go for the breakfast, it was big menu actually. We preferred not to go to the Indian dishes side :) coz we know we will be getting the same once we come back home. So we would try everything other than Indian. Once when we went for the breakfast, we saw that day's evening special was a crab race and interested people had to pay for one particular crab and if that crab wins you will be considered the winner. There was nothing more than that. So we were little excited to see the crab race. We dint pay for any crab though. We went there in the evening only to find that there was no crab race coz no one bothered to participate. I think everyone were like us, interested only to watch and not pay for it. Instead of that there was dance and all that in an open place and there were so many people sitting and watching the dance and the song. There was one couple from the audience who danced really well. We saw that for sometime and came back to our room.
Another day we booked for para-sailing.It was really exciting. There were 3 other couples who had booked for it at the same time.It was really cool to go in the speed boat. He took us to the middle of the sea and he was so fast that it was really very exciting and a little scary also. Seeing our excitement he got even more enthusiasm and turned the boat quickly to feel the jerks. And then one of the couples chose to go first for the sail. it looked really good to watch others go. Finally it was our turn to fly up. We gave our camera to one of the couples in the boat and wore our safety wear went there a little scared and more excited. We were ready to fly now. Actually it is like, once we sit on the strand in the boat, the person will start the boat and slowly we will go up. It was so thrilling and everywhere we saw was the sea. It was really really exciting and a must go ride. Having a lot of fun we came to our room and rested.
We spent our days like this. And then it was time for us to come back to India. We got some souvenirs. I was converting everything to Indian money and saying a big 'NO' to everything . The I realized that I will not be getting any souvenirs if I do that. We got a very beautiful wind chime which was made of bamboo and it had a very different noise as well. and got back to the room and packed our stuffs. One main thing to be told is that people there give more importance to the whites. We are like just another people for them. They don't consider us as tourists. Then we checked out of the room and the waiter got our luggage for us. We were supposed to wait in the reception for sometime. We were not actually sure why. Then the waiter came back with a list and gave us a bill for the drinks we had used in the room. That is when we were confirmed that those drinks and chocolates were not actually a part of the room booking. We made the payment for it and then left to the speed boat which was supposed to leave us in the airport. Reached the airport. We strolled around the airport checking if we can get something else to take back as a souvenir. Finally found a very cute tea cup set with a kettle. It looked really cute that Richy did not want to leave it. So we picked up that and left to the flight. The flight was at 12:50.It was on time and we reached Bangalore at 3:30. The environment here seemed so different after coming back from there :)
Neways overall it was a wonderful experience and all thanks to my husband to have arranged such a wonderful trip.
